Birth Breath is a project which examines the current of breath which runs through people, plants, places and animals. Presented as a feature-length film shot in all four parts of Thailand, the project looks at the benefits that come from being present with the breath, including health, happiness and a quiet mind. Additionally, the film will explore the damages caused to our bodies and minds when we ignore the breath and lead a consumerist lifestyle, watch too much media and eat a poor diet.
The film will consist of video montages set to music with minimal narration.
Viewing the film will induce a meditative experience, while also planting seeds leading viewers to examine the choices they make on a daily basis as to how they live their lives.
During 2011, I will spend periods of at least ten days in silent meditation, I will spend time in the mountains, time living with animals and time studying with respiratory physicians. In addition to the film, interviews with interesting people working in fields related to breathing will be serialized on this website and a bilingual book will be released.
